It is a great time to get your bookkeeping organized and up to date. All the transactions are still somewhat fresh in your mind and it is easier to remember details now, better than later. The weather has taken a turn for the colder and most business might have slowed down just enough to have a quick opportunity to find out where your company is at financially now before year end. That way you still have time to decide about that extra purchase /expense, before it is to late, and a new fiscal year has started. PLAN TO SUCCEED, and you will! Take time to plan your future, your business, set a goal, figure out your plan of action and stick to it.
If tax or bookkeeping situations arise, it is better to talk to an Accountant before it becomes worse. Consulting is one of the many benefits of being one of my clients.
Remember; Do not respond to emails claiming to be from Canada Revenue Agency. The CRA does not use emails.
Good morning everyone
I just returned from our Annual SOMA conference. It was a great learning opportunity for me, as I was learning from a group of experts. SOMA is a group of accountants that get together once a year for a conference, and consult with each other on a regular basis to find the best way to help you, our clients, and save you as much tax dollars as possible. We took our spouses with us and stayed a few extra days to get a tan and a well deserved holiday while we were there. I am always striving to learn more by going to training’s and conferences to be the best accountant that I can be, for you.
I would like to thank all my great friends and clients, that have supported my business for the last 10 years. I have enjoyed working with all of you over the years, and helped all of you save money on your Income Taxes. There are some of you that I have been able to help out even more with your businesses, by doing your Bookkeeping, Payroll, tracking your remittances for GST, PST, LCT, and all aspects of being your Accountant.
Thank You for being loyal to my business and for referring your friends to my business, as that is the main way that my business has grown as quickly as it has, and you helped make it this successful. I will make this commitment to you, “I will always be up to date on my education of current tax laws relating to the Accounting Industry.”
Thank You, for the first 10 years of experience.
We are in the home stretch of tax season. If you have not got your taxes done yet, it is just about too late. If your information is dropped of in the last 2 weeks, I do not guarantee that I can finish them on time. Having said that, I have not had a problem yet, in my first 10 years of business. As you all know, I always do my best for all my clients. Thanks to all the referral business that I have received again this year, we have done way more tax returns than any year so far, and I would like to thank everyone, for telling your friends about my friendly professional service. Clients like you make a business successful by telling others to support small friendly businesses like mine. See you soon.
Thank you for 10 years of allowing me to do what I enjoy, save people money of their taxes.
Good morning everyone,
It is that time of year again, the weather is cold and it is a great time to get this year taxes behind you for the year. Then you can relax and not have to think about it for another year. Those of you getting a refund, might as well have your money in your pocket instead of the CRA pocket. With direct deposit, you could have your money back in no time, last year I had a couple of early clients that had their refund in their bank accounts in 8 days from the e-file date. See you soon.
It is now time for tax season to kick into gear. As of February 10, 2014 the CRA has opened up their computers to make E-file available again. I recommend that everyone use their last years tax return as a guide, to make sure you have all the new slips for 2013. All T4’s & T5’s should be sent out to you by Feb 28, with the exception of T3’s they can be mailed as late as March 31st. Gather up all your donation slips, medical expenses or printouts from your pharmacy, and any other slips that are deductions for the purpose of reducing your income. If you plan to get an RRSP, that deadline is Feb 28. I hope to see those of you that are early birds soon, as it helps a lot when they arrive at a nice smooth pace. See you soon.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The new year brings change for everyone, some small and some large changes. Either way, it is a new calendar year and we should get our 2013 information organized and bookkeeping complete soon. Make sure you have an envelope handy for all of those tax slips arriving soon including; T3, T4, T5, RRSP, Charitable Donations, Medical Expenses, Public Transit Pass Receipts, T2200-Tuition from College or University, Political Donations, etc. If you moved last year then make sure everyone including past employers from 2013 have your new address, so that you get your slips without delay. It is now a good time to start new folders or envelopes for 2014. It will not be long now, and we will need to prepare your tax returns, see you soon.
Well the year end is getting closer and it is a good time to sit down in your warm office and get the bookkeeping up to date. By doing it now, you have the benefit of knowing precisely where your business is at financially. Because it is not December 31st yet, you have the option of purchasing that asset you have been thinking about. Therefore reducing your taxable income if you would like. It has been a very busy year for most people and a fairly profitable year for most of you because of your hard work. If you have made a lot more profit and are concerned about tax, we can discuss the benefits of updating some of your equipment. Getting your books up to date now is always easier while things are still fresh in your mind.
Being proactive is always better than being reactive.
I was contacted by a friend recently about the rules for traveling to the USA (Snowbirds). Here is the story CTV did in August of this year. There is a video and printed story of some of the details. I am attaching the link to the CTV story.
If the link does not work automatically, copy the address above and paste it in your browser at the top of your page. I hope this is helpful, this story and others are on my Facebook page.
On October 1, 2013 the Canada Revenue Agency closed the remaining TSO’s (Tax Service Office). If you want to talk to an agent of theirs, then you will need to call 1-800-959-8281 for personal questions or 1-800-959-5525 for business questions. If you need to see an agent face to face then call those numbers to book an appointment with a local agent.
If you are wanting to pay an amount owing for your GST Remittance, Payroll Remittance, or Income Tax, then you can pay it through your local bank, give it 4-5 business days to be processed to the CRA, so that the CRA receives it by the due date, or pay it on the CRA’s, My Payment Option online. An option also available is to drop the payment into their drop box at the local office, a day early might be recommended so that when they process it the next day, it is still on time.
I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving with your families.
