I have been informed by the local Tax Service Office that as of October 1, 2013 the counter service as they call it will no longer be available in Saskatoon. There will be a mail box at the front door to drop things off for them, but that is all that will be available. If you have questions, you will have to call the 1-800-959-8281 for personal inquires or call 1-800-959-5525 for business inquiries. We have been told, that you will be able to drop your payments into the same mail box. More secure ways of making payments are available on the CRA website, http://www.cra.gc.ca. Options include paying at your bank with a remittance voucher, online banking, or mailing payments to the CRA. Remember that if you pay through your bank , you will need to pay the bill about a week early because most banks do not advance the payment to the proper company for about 4 business days. The CRA has to receive the payment by the due date, the day you pay it at the bank is not sufficient for the CRA. These changes will take effect on October 1st, so if you need to organize online banking, I recommend that you do it in advance.
